Seven-Seater 2018 Lexus RX Could Debut At Tokyo Motor Show This Year

When Lexus pulled the covers off the current-generation RX at the 2015 New York Auto Show, it was strictly a five seater SUV.

In order to capture a bigger market share, Lexus is likely going to be unleash its seven-seater RX later this year at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, with sales in Japan expected to commence in December.

The new model could share its RX moniker with the regular model, though the seven-seater variant is expected to receive an additional "L" at the end of the nameplate. The source reckons that the seven-seater Lexus RX could be 100 mm longer, with changes done to the rear door and window to accommodate the increase in length.

Nameplate aside, the seven-seater Lexus RX is probably going to utilize two 3.5-litre V6 petrol engines, with one of the engines featuring Lexus's Hybrid Drive system. In the case of the Lexus RX 450h, the V6 petrol engine manages 258 hp and 335 Nm of torque, while the electric motor allowing for a combined system output of 308 hp.
