Overwhelming Turnout For Carlist.my MAA Drive, Test and Buy Event

Carlist.my’s first-ever multi-brand test-drive sales carnival ended yesterday on a strong note, with 20,000 visitors recorded, exceeding the organizer’s expectations by twice as much.

Endorsed by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), the event took place at the Setia City Convention Centre in Setia Alam, Shah Alam, with 15 different brands participating, offering more than 50 different models for test drives.

Present during the event's opening ceremony on Saturday was (from left): Mr. Wong Man Hoe, Director of Hire Purchase Operations Divison, Public Bank, Mr. Chang Swee Wah, Retail Manager, Chevron Malaysia, Datuk Aishah Ahmad, President of the MAA, YB Dato’ Henry Sum Agong, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism, Mr. Hamish Stone, CEO of iCar Asia Sdn Bhd, and Ms. PC Gan, Country Manager (Malaysia) of iCarAsia Sdn. Bhd. 

The event also proudly hosted the world debut of the new Honda Jazz Hybrid, as well the first ever Malaysian appearance of the Toyota’s upcoming 2018 Toyota C-HR crossover.

Subaru also took the opportunity to preview its upcoming Subaru Forester 2.0i-S variant, which is set to be launched later this month, while Volkswagen launched its special edition Volkswagen Polo ALLSTAR there.

The event also attracted a high number of quality leads. Over 2,500 visitors signed up for a test drive, which was immediately translated into over 250 bookings over the weekend. The total value of cars sold is estimated to be worth at least RM23 million.

More bookings are expected to be secured over the next few days, as consumers deliberate on their purchase decision carefully.

Honda took the lion’s share of bookings, securing 73 bookings over the weekend, followed by Perodua, Volkswagen, Toyota and Mazda rounding up the top-5 most popular brands.
