Lexus LS Gets a Dose of F Sport Treatment

Following Lexus’ reinvention of its flagship saloon; the LS at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, the sportier version of the sedan – the LS F Sport, was just revealed ahead of the New York Auto Show.

Available in both petrol and petrol-electric hybrid versions, the LS F Sport is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 engine that was developed specifically for the new LS 500, equipped with twin turbochargers developed using Formula 1 technology.

Capable of delivering V8-level performance, which is 415bhp and 600Nm of torque, the engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission – another first for Lexus.

In case you’re wondering how quick it is, the LS F Sport is capable of sprinting from naught to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds.

As for the Hybrid model, the same engine mentioned above is equipped with Lexus’s Multi Stage Hybrid System, delivering 295hp and 354 Nm of torque.

According to Lexus, the car is able to clock speeds of up to 140kmh and sprint from zero to 100km/h in 5.4 seconds in full electric mode.

Design wise, the LS F Sport features a coupe-like silhouette, a dramatic rendition of the signature Lexus spindle grille, enlarged side grilles, rocker panel, boot mouldings, F Sport badging on the wings, and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the LS F Sport is equipped with a special F Sport steering wheel and instrumentation that presents speedometer and tachometer in a moving meter display, adapted from the technology and design created for the LFA supercar.

Another unique feature is the use of Ultrasuede material across the seats complemented by a headliner. It is said that a new red interior finish will also be offered exclusively for F Sport models.

Featuring three driving modes (Normal, Sport S or Sport S+) and Lexus’ latest generation Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM), the LS is constructed on an extended version of the global architecture for luxury vehicles (GA-L) platform Lexus has used for its new LC flagship coupe.

Offered in White Nova and Heat Blue colours that are exclusive to the F Sport, the car is expected to go on sale later this year.
