All-New 2017 Porsche Panamera Debuts In Malaysia, RM890k to RM1.1m

The all-new 2017 Porsche Panamera has just been launched in Malaysia, available with a choice of two V6 petrol variants priced from RM890,000 to RM1,100,000.

Having debuted globally last June, the second-generation Panamera is available not just with a wide range of engines, but also no less than three body styles – the familiar Gran Turismo configuration, a long-wheelbase Executive model, and a wagon variant dubbed the Sport Turismo.

Only the standard wheelbase four-door Gran Turismo body debuts in our market for now, with a choice of two V6 petrol powertrains. The base model is powered by a 3.0-litre single turbo engine producing 330hp and 450Nm, whilst the more powerful 4S variant features a 2.9-litre bi-turbo engine pumped up to push out 440hp and 550Nm.

All engines of the Panamera are paired with a new 8-speed dual clutch transmission as standard. Aside from the base V6 petrol engine which is offered with rear-wheel drive; all variants of the Panamera are AWD-only.

The base Panamera 3.0 V6 has a rated top speed of 264 km/h and is able to reach 100 km/h from rest in 5.7 seconds, 5.5 if fitted with the optional Sport Chrono pack. Official rated fuel consumption is 7.5 - 7.6 litres/100km with CO2 emissions of 171 - 173 g/km.

The all-wheel driven Panamera 4S, meanwhile, attains a maximum speed of 289 km/h and demolishes the century sprint in 4.4 seconds (4.2 with Sport Chrono pack). Fuel consumption in the European combined cycle is rated at 8.1 - 8.2 litres/100km with CO2 emissions at 184 - 186 g/km. Compared to the previous Panamera 4S, the new one is 11 percent more efficient at the pumps.

The all-new chassis of the 2017 Panamera incorporates optional adaptive air suspension, torque vectoring control, active roll stabilization, and rear axle steering. These enhancements are claimed to enable the Panamera to handle with near 911-levels of handling prowess. Steering is electrically assisted.

Externally, the new Panamera retains the familiar profile of its predecessor, but increased dimensions all round - 34mm longer (5,049mm), 6mm wider (1,937mm), and 5mm taller (1,423mm). Wheelbase too, has been stretched by 30mm to 2,950mm.

Prices for the all-new Panamera start at RM890,000 for the base model before options and on-road costs, but includes a four-year warranty and free service pacakge. The Panamera 4S, meanwhile, goes for RM1,100,000 under the same terms.
